Using his Canon 350D, Epson Stylus PRO 9600, Moab Entrada Rag and QIMAGE, Robert Scott-Mitchell's portrait of his wife, renowned artist Lindy Lee picked up first prize in this inaugural event.
The portrait features Chinese born, Lindy Lee meditating amongst her own art exhibition of 100 Chinese accordion books which she calls Birth & Death. The images are derived from family photographs of past and present generations.
One thousand four hundred entries were received for this first competition at The National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. The competition began after the demise of the photographic category of the Archibald Prize.
Scott-Mitchell picked up a prize of $25000 for this work.
