An important step in the amalgamation of GASAA and the Printing Industries Association of Australia has been completed following the filing of applications this week with Fair Work Australia.
Printing Industries CEO Bill Healey said that the boards of both organisations had formally approved the applications for submission.
“Both our organisations have worked co-operatively to expedite the formalities and this has greatly contributed to assisting our legal team to complete the necessary applications in compliance with Fair Work Australia requirements,” he said.
“We will now await a direction from Fair Work Australia for a ballot of GASAA members that will take us a step closer to finalisation.
“We are looking forward to being in a position to begin 2013 as a fully functioning amalgamated entity that is a key part of our repositioning strategy capitalising on the opportunities being presented in the multi-channel communication world.
“Our industries are undergoing significant change and we need to adjust to and capitalise on them. We must ensure that we can firstly, provide the leadership, knowledge, services and support to help our members to reposition and, secondly, speak with one voice to represent our collective interests.”
GASAA Executive Officer Garry Knespal, said he looked forward to formally joining the amalgamated team and had already attended several planning and project meetings with the Printing Industries Leadership Group.
“We intend to hit the ground running, once the Fair Work Australia requirements have been met, by being better able to work co-operatively to help transform and reposition the industry in the ever changing digital communication world, a mission that will enhance the relevancy of the amalgamated association,” he said.
“GASAA has an important role in the amalgamated organisation providing Printing Industries with established resources within the creative and cross media sectors and contributing to the development of new resources to meet the challenges being faced by our industry."
