EFI Australia today announced that this year’s PrintEx had seen a significant increase in interest in its flagship digital inkjet technology.

EFI products featured on the stands of distributors DES and IMEDIA and OEM partners Canon, Konica Minolta and Ricoh.
‘With the help of distributors and OEMs, this year we were able to showcase the largest number of EFI products ever at a tradeshow in Australia,’ said Anthony Parnemann, EFI regional manager SE Asia. ‘Both DES and IMEDIA did a stellar job promoting our Rastek wide-format printers and VUTEK grand-format digital inkjet printers.  Visitors had the choice of seeing two Rastek models and two VUTEk printers in continuous operation.’

The VUTEk GS3200 on the DES stand quickly picked up a Hot Pick Award and shortly after a large ‘sold’ sign appeared.  According to Peter Eddy, senior product manager with DES, the high-speed and quality of the high-end VUTEk attracted a number of serious buyers. ‘Speed and quality,’ said Eddy, ‘that’s the drawcard. To be able to print four-up sheets and produce 100+ sheets an hour is impressive.’ Shortly before closing time on Friday, DES announced it had also secured an order for the versatile EFI VUTEk QS2000.

On the IMEDIA stand, the new EFI Rastek H652 was put through its paces and was quickly sold.  The purchaser, Scribal Group from the NSW Central Coast, had only recently purchased the first H652 to be installed in Australia and were keen to acquire a second printer for their busy printshop. Tyler Marshall, inkjet sales specialist with IMEDIA said the Rastek delivered a versatile printer in a small footprint that made it ideal for small-medium print workshops. ‘It prints on a wide variety of substrates - board, glass, acrylic – it’s easy to operate and it’s very affordable,’ said Marshall. A second Rastek printer was sold before the show closed on Friday.

IMEDIA also reported strong interest in the EFI VUTEK QS3220, with a pleasing number of solid leads for the 3.2 m grand-format workhorse.  ‘We are all very tired but have a mountain of leads and opportunities to follow up on,’ said Chris Lewis-Williams, IMEDIA group manager.  Lewis-Williams said the quality and quantity of interest, in particular in the VUTEk range, had exceeded pre-show expectations, and a number of follow-up demonstrations had already been lined up.

EFI’s Fiery servers were put through their paces on the OEM stands.  On the Ricoh stand the new Ricoh C901 engines running Fiery servers rolled out 2,000 copies of The PrintEx Daily each day of the show demonstrating the speed, power, productivity, precision and amazing colour and image quality of Fiery Digital Print Solutions.
