Not only has technology affected the way V8 Supercar Teams run, it's also affected how they look.

When Dick Johnson Racing came into being 30 years ago, car and team branding was a fairly basic business. Today, graphics are intricate, colours rich and life-like. And no V8 Supercar team has quite embraced current technology like DJR, who thanks to partner Roland DG Australia, a leading provider of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters to,

can now boast one of the most high-tech and versatile print rooms in Australian motor sport.

Roland DG Australia sponsored the DJR owned Jim Beam Racing for the 2010 V8 Supercar season which included ongoing technical support for the teams signage needs, using Roland DG's state of the art vinyl cutting and digital print technologies. "Our relationship with DJR gives Roland DG an array of marketing opportunities to further raise awareness and promote the Roland DG brand within the Australian Motorsport industry and the general public" said John Wall, Roland DG Sales & Marketing Manager. "Roland DG aims to promote the use of vehicle wraps and specialised print solutions through sponsorship such as this."

Established mid-2010, The Roland DJR Print Room houses a Roland CAMM-1 PRO cutter and Roland SOLJET PROIII print and cut XC-540MT run with Roland VersaWorks™ RIP Software.

Keith 'KC' Chesterton, who heads up DJR's paint and panel division, credits Roland with revolutionising the way the department works. "We do a huge amount of printing," said KC. "Everything from car and truck graphics, pit-boards and garage walls to merchandise products such as stickers, cut-outs and drink bottles."

"With Roland's support, not only have we have been able to bring everything in house, we've been able to expand our capabilities" KC continues. "Deb Lederhose has come across to DJR to drive the print room. Her knowledge, combined with Roland's technical expertise and service, has allowed us to really increase the scope of what we can do. For example, we used to hand cut the stickers for the car and when you consider how many car panels and bars we go through over the year the time really adds up, so the print and cut feature of the Roland SOLJET PROIII has saved us huge amounts of time."

KC is also impressed by the print quality - "We are the only team with an in-house facility used to create resale products," he said. "And that's because of the quality of the printers and the ECO-SOL MAX™ inks from Roland."

"If it wasn't for Roland we wouldn't have this space. That's why we've called it the Roland DJR Print Room. The sky's the limit now!"
