A Stitch in time looks fine for HP

HP’s recent move into dye sublimation surprised many but when you look at the forecasted growth rates for Printwear, fabrics and soft signage it is entirely understandable.

The three new models from 64-inch to 126-inch wide: the HP Stitch S300 and HP Stitch S500 64-inch printers, and the HP Stitch S1000 126-inch Printer, are producing stunning sublimated results and can also print direct-to-textile when required.

HP’s large format Application Specialist Jeremy Brew identified the Stitch-s series’ uniqueness as “They simplify the sublimation process. With inbuilt colour measurement, we have reduced the number of steps to calibrate a new media from 27 to 9; and it takes only 2-3 minutes thanks to the inbuilt spectrophotometers”

Brew sees HP Stitch printers as playing a role in bringing short-run fashion apparel printing back onshore as designs can be produced quickly and locally and at very high quality.

HP is partnering with other suppliers for heat presses and calendaring, notable TransMatic dye fixation machines. Rips used include ErgoSoft for entry-level and Onyx and Caldera at the higher end.

“With HP Latex going strongly and last year’s addition of the R-series flatbed model, Stitch gives us another area to support and grow with textiles,” said Brew, who is also the Chairman of PrintEx 2019 and very happy with the way it has progressed.

The apparel, textile and décor examples on display on the HP stand were certainly of very high standard with great saturation and that nice soft sublimated feel.
