Wilenco showcased the Rollover Flatbed Applicator at Visual Impact 2015 in Melbourne to visitors that were clearly impressed. Passing the stand during the show’s three day duration, we couldn’t help but notice how the product constantly drew in the crowds.

Svein Ove Martinsen, Rollover’s Vice President, Sales and Marketing was on hand to demonstrate the Rollover Flatbed Applicator, and took us on the tour of the product, also providing some insight into the company and its association with Wilenco.
The innovative Rollover Flatbed Applicator Rollover represents a better and easier way to laminate self-adhesive foil applications, road signs, glass application, banners etc. up to 90mm in thickness. Made in Norway by Brdr. Hansen AS after years of intense product development and testing, the laminator was launched small scale in 2011. The positive response and feedback from users lead to rapidly growing sales through Rollover’s expanding network of distributors and now, five years later, it is regarded as a “must have” rather than a “nice to have” product, and is distributed to more than 50 markets around the globe.

“I guess you could say that we have a very nice share of the market,” says Svein, alluding to the Rollover’s sought after appeal.
“And that’s hardly surprising given the fact that the owner of the company Jarle Hansen is technically brilliant and that the company itself has more than 20 years experience in manufacturing flexible face signs,” he adds.
Svein tells us that he became involved with Brdr. Hansen AS when the company was at the stage of trying to commercialise the Rollover Flatbed Applicator. Since he had been working in the capacity of sales, marketing, product and business development for various international businesses for over three decades, he had the skills and history to do just that.
His involvement with Wilenco’s Ron King began over two years ago, when Ron approached Svein to sell the Rollover. The two met at Fespa in London and had a good connection from the start .. and the rest is history.
Svein believes that the Rollover Flatbed Applicator is one of the best investments that can be made to the finishing side of sign making. “What is incredibly attractive is the fact that it reduces time spent on applications and laminations. Not only this, but one person can easily do a two man job and thus it gives sign makers the opportunities to work with bigger jobs in less time.”
Closer examination of the Rollover Flatbed Applicator reveals numerous innovations to impress:
- With an anti-static rubber coated 130 mm diameter roller,  an even pressure can be achieved over the tabletop which leads to high quality when applicating.
- The patented design with no gliding beam above the roller allows for much easier handling of the material and better control of the laminating process.
- It comes with flexible extra media-holders and generously shaped side trays to facilitate numerous applications and easy handling of media that is wider than the table’s surface. The gap between roller and tabletop accommodates different substrates up to 90mm thickness. When you place the material in position and lock it into place with the rollover, the material can easily be flipped from one one side by only one person and there will be no marks or creases.
- The laminating roll and the adhesive material is easily accessible and you have full control throughout the laminating process. Applying digital prints and other self-adhesive applications on rigid panels such as. correx, foames, dibond, and aluminium is jan area where the Rollover reveals its excellent properties in result and operation.Substrates up to 90mm thick can be handled for perfectly flat applications without bubbles or creases.
- By using the ergonomically shaped and inward-facing handles, the roller can be moved easily over the tabletop both in a raised and lowered position. Being positioned at the end of the inward facing handles, the activation button for raising and lowering of the roller is protected against unintentional use. This reduces substantially the risk of work accidents.
- It can efficiently appllcate digital prints or application tapes to glass- and acrylic plates without any use of water.  By using the generously spaced side shelves, wide banners or other oversize media can be handled across the tabletop. This allows materials such as multi-line foil labels and digital prints to be transferred to large format.
- When cutting on the self-healing cutting mat or even working with flexible skins and hoardings, Rollover offers with its back-lit work area the best basis to cope with an advertising technicians everyday strive.
Contrary to opinions that, without a guiding beam, the roller will go askew due to one sided operation, Svein points out that the Rollover Flatbed Applicator is provided with a closed-circuit wiring system for ease of operation.
“The roller can be used from either side with unobstructed access to the table top, media, and substrate, and skewing is absolutely not a problem,” he confirms.
What is also very popular with the market is the fact that the Rollover Flatbed Applicator is extremely user-friendly.
“Operators are equipped with a detailed manual on delivery of the produce, and  initially, can learn how to use it in less than one hour. All up, it only takes about a week or two to completely familiarise with the Rollover,” states Svein, explaining that operators have access to additional user manuals and videos for use and application.
Additionally, the Rollover Flatbed Applicator is very solid and sturdy and represents a great focus on quality. It is also a simple plug and play installation. “Plug in the compressed air and electricity and there you go!” says Svien.
“Once people grasp the concept of the Rollover and see what they can do with it, the learning is very steep. It is not an issue to learn how to use it, and once they get to understand its potential, they become very fond of it!” he concludes.
The Rollover Flatbed Applicator has a five year warranty and is made in Norway, therefore there are shipping costs involved in the purchase but Svein assures us the packaging is optimised to allow for numerous units to be shipped per container, thus keeping freight costs at a minimum.
