Industry group Visual Connections has launched a campaign to support family-owned McDonald Signs & Print of Young, NSW, after owner Aaron McDonald's young daughter Madison was involved in a tragic accident last year.

In September 2018, Madison was involved in an horrific motor vehicle accident on her 7th birthday.

She was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney and treated for a severe head injury, putting incredible stress on her father Aaron, his partner Sarah and her three young children.

Madison’s injuries saw her come close to death multiple times and she also suffered a stroke, falling into a coma for three weeks and requiring Intensive care treatment for a month. Maddie is still in hospital with a long road ahead.

In the days and months following the accident, Maddie’s family have faced serious financial pressures.

In October 2018, Wide Format Online published an urgent appeal for an experienced sign operator to help keep the McDonald Signs business running.

McDonald Signs and Print was eventually closed while the family focused on supporting Maddie. Aaron is planning to reopen McDonald Signs & Print in April 2019 while also caring for Maddie and continuing her rehabilitation.
