Melbourne based shopfitting and display company, Display Design says that in comparison to traditional “T” type lamp, back lit light boxes using LED lighting, energy consumption can be reduced by up to 75%. Moreover, lamp life expectancy increases by up to 80% offering the end user up to 100,000 hours or, in annual terms, approximately 27 years of maintenance free use. (*figures quoted are approximated based on an average 7 day, daily usage rate of 10 hours).

One of the key advantages of LED-based illumination is its high efficiency light output to power input. Essentially, LED lamps produce more light per watt than incandescent lamps and hence, emit a brighter, clearer and more even illumination. In addition, LED technology provides a great solution in display applications where regular on and off cycling is required. Compared to fluorescent and incandescent lamps that burn out more regularly under these conditions, LED lamps are far more resistant to shock, breakage and damage if dropped or knocked.

Display Design’s Eco™ and Edlite™ LED light boxes are available in both single and double sided units to accommodate A0 right through to A4 print sizes. The company says they can also accommodate custom requirements and supply their LED light boxes up to a maximum size of 3000mmx1200mm.
