Printing Industries Association of Australia (Printing Industries) has a new Board President, David Leach, CEO and founder of Sydney based Look Print.

Mr Leach succeeds Queensland’s Susan Heaney who was the inaugural Board President from 2011.

Ms Heaney was a major force behind the association’s restructure which included a new Board structure, strategic plan and realignment of david leach1 250staff. She will continue to serve on the Board.

Mr Leach has a history of industry involvement. He was elected to the Printing Industries' Board in 2013, is the Immediate Past President of Graphic Arts Services Australia (GASA), now a section of Printing Industries, a Graphic Arts Services Association (GASAA) Board member from 2009 and its president from 2011-2012.

Mr Leach worked with both the GASAA and Printing Industries' boards to bring about the successful merging of the two associations which was completed in early 2013.

Very much a ‘hands on’ operator, Mr Leach is an avid networker, collaborator and attendee at overseas conferences. He regularly consults with national and international colleagues, sharing information and ideas to support and nurture the evolution of new ideas and innovation.

He believes that there is a very strong future for print in communications, in all its forms, albeit different from the past.

“Life is not about waiting for the rain to pass - it's about learning to dance in the rain,” he said.

“The digital revolution has brought tsunami like changes to the lives of everyone and all industries be they services, travel, entertainment, manufacturing, mining, education, health, communications, music.

“Nothing has or will escape.”

Mr Leach said Printing Industries was implementing an industry transformation plan for its members and the broader industry to build on this.

“This is a time for change in which we must all learn, accept the challenges, be innovative and grasp the opportunities of the change that we all know must happen.

“I am very excited and motivated about at being a part of this transition and in being able to lead Printing Industries to create a new look industry by helping and encouraging dynamic sustainable firms within the printing industry,” he said.
