Applications for the 2014 GAMAA Industry Overseas Internship Grant valued at $15,000 are now open and will close on 14th March, 2014.

Instituted by GAMAA in 2012, the Grant allows the successful applicant to undertake an internship or research with companies of their choosing anywhere in the world. Last year’s winner was Arin Tahmasian, an Account Executive at Upstream Print Solutions Sydney.

Tahmasian used his grant to undertake a 24 day tour of the US and UK to visit key sites and events. “It was an amazing experience to meet with my peers and industry experts across the other side of the world,” says Tahmasian. “The GAMAA grant has allowed me to attend several prestigious conferences in Las Vegas (SMB Nation), Chicago (DMA) and London (Cross-Media). It also allowed me to meet with experts in our industry and discuss the impact technology has on our industry, and how both print and digital can be used in conjunction to increase the effectiveness of customer communication.” He added that one of the highlights was the Cross Media event in London where the House of Print versus House of Digital debate “was one discussion that captivated me”.

Internships can be undertaken in marketing, new media, print, graphic design and other nominated disciplines related to the print media field. The outcome of the successful Grant will be a research paper documenting the recipient’s experience and how these learnings can be applied to the Australian market.

GAMAA Executive Director Karen Goldsmith said, “GAMAA is committed to promoting leadership through further education. The GAMAA Grant enables the successful applicant to discover world’s best practices and to tap into trends that are happening in our industry outside of Australia. It is the gathering of knowledge from multiple sources that will fuel the sustainability of our industry and GAMAA is pleased to provide this unique opportunity”.

Those who are keen to apply for the Grant are encouraged to contact Ms. Goldsmith to discuss their proposal. Application forms are available from the GAMAA website.
