New and emerging talent in the print industry will be recognised with a new Future Leaders Award, to be sponsored by Media Super.

The inaugural award will become part of the Printing Industries Craftsmanship Awards (PICA) the annual industry showcase for excellence, achievement and celebrating the art of craft in print.

“This Award has been created to recognise and reward exceptional young people employed in any sector of the industry, from print to packaging, graphics and design,” says Lisa Collins, National Client Relationship Manager for Media Super.
“At Media Super we believe it’s time to directly recognise and support the enormous contribution our young people are making to the industry in these times of transformation and challenge. We are delighted to be extending our existing support of the PICA Awards in Victoria.”
“Much has been made in recent times about the changing face of media, yet print remains fundamental and highly effective part of the communications mix. For many applications, there simply is nothing like print and there are many brilliant and gifted young people, from designers to production specialists and printers themselves, who know exactly how to play to its strengths.
PICA is now seeking nominations for the award from business owners, managers and colleagues who believe they are employing or working alongside one of the industry’s future leaders.
“We’re looking for young people involved across all areas of print, packaging and graphic communications, from designers, prepress specialists and production people, to printers, print finishers and others,” said PICA Victoria Chairman, Trevor Hone.
“They can be involved in any type of print, but they will be people who contribute far beyond what’s expected of them and demonstrate their maturity and self-awareness in their professional and personal development. In short, the winner of the inaugural Media Super Future Leaders Award will be an outstanding young person who not only has a promising future as a leader in our industry, but whose work is already contributing to the bright future ahead for the industry itself.”
