Ask anyone in the wide-format equipment supply business today and they will tell you investment in new hardware is sluggish. A recent report by International Data Corporation showed that wide-format (24”/610mm and wider) digital printer sales fell by 35% in 2011 as a result of economic uncertainty and the expectation of disruptive new technologies at the German drupa trade fair – the largest print media event in the world – this May in Germany.

“But business must go on,” says Starleaton Sales Director Gary Smith, “while our consumable media business remains strong, hardware sales have been hard to nail down, so with the co-operation of three of our suppliers, we are literally giving money away until the end of April.”

Starleaton has selected a 64”/1615mm print width eco-solvent printer from Roland DG; the SolJet XJ-640 to tempt bargain-hunting customers into Roland-XJ-640loosening their purse strings. “Total savings amount to $13,420 on an industry-recognized top brand machine,” says Smith. “The savings are a combination of discount, free ink and free media.

On the aqueous ink side, Starleaton has partnered with HP and the Designjet Z6200 with a ‘Cash for Z6200Clunkers’ trade-in deal for any old wide format printer, “Total savings  can amount to a whopping $15,700, “says Smith. “The deal is a combination of cash-back, free media and discount which we will disclose to genuinely interested parties.”

For laminating, Starleaton has extended the ‘try before you buy’ offer on SEAL laminators where potential buyers can use a SEAL 62 Base or 54EL laminator for 3 months for a small delivery and set-up fee – fully deductible if purchased at the end of the trial period. A roll feed tray is included free.

Seal 62 Base“It’s a buyer’s market,” says Smith, “so we have had to respond to the supply-demand equation by making it cheaper than ever to get a new solvent or aqueous wide format printer and laminator from the top recognized brands, until the end of April at least.”
