HP today announced the winners of the 2nd HP Digital Print Awards (Asia Pacific and Japan) – HP Scitex.

The results were officially announced during the gala dinner last night in Shanghai, which was held in conjunction with the 19th Shanghai International Advertising & Sign Technology & Equipment Exhibition.   

Two Australian companies took out gold awards – Cactus Imaging in the Outdoor Advertising category and Next Printing in POP Advertising.

The 2011 HP Digital Print Awards (Asia Pacific and Japan) – HP Scitex marks the second time the Awards have been held.
Founded by HP in 2010, the Awards recognise outstanding achievements, innovations and contributions by Print Service Providers (PSPs) across Asia Pacific and Japan. This year’s awards attracted a large number of entries for each of the five key categories from across the region.

“Every entry that has been submitted this year is a winning entry. It is simply amazing how rapidly the industry has progressed in the use of digital printing to produce the stunning results they have,” said Martin Carballo, Director, HP Scitex – Graphic Solutions Business, Imaging and Printing Group, Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific and Japan. “The task of selecting winners in the future is just going to get tougher for our judges”.

Winners of the 2nd HP Digital Print Awards (Asia Pacific and Japan) – HP Scitex came from all across the region, with Gold awards going to companies hailing from India, Korea, Australia and China. Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong, Pakistan and Singapore were the other countries which were recognised for their work submitted.

The Platinum Award winner from across all the categories will be announced during Dscoop Asia’s gala dinner event on 23rd August at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore.

“The entries for this year’s HP Scitex awards were of an extremely high standard. I was especially delighted with the variety of entries on showcase in all of the different categories”, said Stan Kilpin, Publisher, Digital Image Magazine.

Winning entries were selected based on degree of innovation and creativity, marketing appeal, best use of ink and colours, creative print application installation and overall aesthetics in the following five key categories:

•    Transit Graphic – vehicle wraps and fleet graphics

•    Interior Advertising – point-of-sale materials, interior signage, and floor or wallpaper graphics

•    Outdoor Advertising – building wraps, billboard signage, floor graphics, backlit signage and textile (flags & banners) graphics

•    Printing on Rigid Substrates – any decorative printing on rigid substrates such as glass or ceramic or wood

•    Green Digital Printing – print jobs done with a combination of the following parameters:

—    Inks: using dye-based, latex inks and UV inks

—    Printing Substrates: using environmental-friendly printing materials that are recyclable such as non-PVC-based banner, cotton-based fabrics and recycled paper.  

Judging was conducted by a panel of internationally renowned judges from the graphic arts, signage and media industries. They include:
