The eight awards – six of which were printed on the HP latex machines, and the other two cut-out vinyl awards - comprised multiple silver and bronze medals in various categories including Illuminated Other Than Neon, where Rocket Signs took out three awards, and Vehicle Wraps, where it was awarded two medals.
Rocket Signs produces all of its signage work, excluding glasswork, on its two HP Designjet Latex ink printers – the HP Designjet L65500 and L25500. The L65500 was installed at the end of 2009 with the L25500 commissioned in January 2010. Replacing all solvent printers, the HP Latex ink printers have become the company’s primary production hub.
A market leader, Rocket Signs specialises in the design and production of signage for building exteriors, retail spaces, corporate environments and fleet graphics. In commenting on the medal haul, Rocket Signs Managing Director Ross Hall credited the HP Latex ink printers. “The versatility of the HP Designjet technology enables us to use these printers for a range of signage jobs, which means we can take on a wide variety of work with absolute confidence”.
He continued. “We can produce virtually anything on the HP Latex printers. We do a lot of illuminated signage, and with the HP Latex inks we can consistently achieve colours that are vibrant and intense. We won these awards because our HP Latex printers are so cool and the colours rich and alive”.
Hall said with illuminated signage it was particularly difficult to achieve density and at the same time maintain brightness of colour, “but with the HP Latex inks we have no issues. The fact that we took out three awards in the illumination category says to me we have the best printers in the world”.
One of the benefits of the HP Designjet L25500 and L65500 printers with HP Latex inks, said Hall, was the ability “to play around with the settings to adjust colour saturation. When you need to have opaque black on an illuminated sign you need the flexibility to adjust ink coverage. With the Latex inks we can lay down 200% black ink and completely block out the light. This adds vibrancy to the illuminated colours making the sign even more impactful. And we couldn’t achieve this without the Latex inks”.
Rocket Signs also took out two awards for vehicle wraps, another area where Hall believes the Latex inks excel. “One of the vehicle wrap jobs we won an award for involved a very bright, complex design. The HP Latex ink printer handled it with no issues and the colours came out looking fantastic, with the prints dry and ready to apply”.
In conclusion Hall said, “We are proud of the work we do and it’s wonderful to have our efforts recognised. From my point of view it was the vibrancy of our prints, and the quality of the colour we can achieve, that’s what stood out, that’s what attracted the judges. We’re using the best printers. That’s why we won”.
