When a supermarket has a large area of customer-facing glass that fronts a non-retail area, what do you do with it?

UK and international retail giant Tesco turned to Contra Vision for such a challenge at its Congelton outlet, 40km south of Manchester.

SDS_Contravision_Tesco_Window_7294In true, bold Tesco fashion the Congleton, UK branch of this international supermarket chain has used Contra Vision® Performance™ to enhance and maintain its corporate design, by intelligently using one-way graphics to disguise a staff training unit within the store.

Congleton Tesco provides a large store frontage with a key area used for staff training rather than retail purposes.

The issue for Tesco was, how to maintain the integrity of their corporate design across the complete window frontage, creating the impression that the whole store is given over to retail sales. It was equally important to provide privacy for staff training and allow an unobstructed view out of the training area to avoid claustrophobia.

The solution was Contra Vision Performance™ 30% transparency perforated window film. The 30% transparency product gave Tesco the perfect combination of privacy, through-vision from the inside, and a truly vibrant image when viewed from the outside. An additional benefit has been the reduction of solar glare on sunny days.

The solution has been a great success. Australian distributor Starleaton Digital Solutions see local applications, as General Manager Ben Eaton says: “We tend to think of one-way window films as an advertising medium first – which it undoubtedly is – but combined with clever thinking such as the Tesco example, Contra Vision® materials can achieve comfort, privacy and cloaking as well. The picture speaks for itself.”

Contra Vision Performance perforated window graphics films are used extensively in the retail, newsagency, pharmaceutical, architectural, transport advertising and display industries. Vibrant graphics are printed on them and the range includes exterior-and interior-applied films, backlit and various light transmittance grades to comply with vehicle and building codes. Starleaton is the exclusive Australian distributor for Contra Vision.
