One of the most valuable opportunities offered by industry exhibitions is the chance for visitors to educate themselves on the latest trends, developments and technologies that will help them take their businesses forward into the future.
And exhibitors at shows like PrintEx11, which will be the largest and most comprehensive exhibition for the print and graphic communications sector this year, do an excellent job of showcasing the very latest advances and solutions.
Business planning, however, requires much broader consideration than simply choosing good equipment, systems and support. It’s as much to do with understanding the environment, ensuring that your approach is spot on – seizing the opportunity to innovate and think outside the box to build business and create new markets.
It is here that wider education can be so beneficial and, once again, PrintEx11 delegates will be able to benefit from this broader view by attending the free Forum Series, to be held over three days at Darling Harbour in May.
This week, Printing Industries, which is organising the Forum Series on behalf of the PrintEx11 Board, released details of the sessions and confirmed the involvement of high-profile speakers who will bring a wealth of experience – and some new perspective – to the series.
The series will kick off on Wednesday 4 May with a session tackling the topical issue of “The Role of Print in an Electronic World”. Appropriately, given the breadth of the topic and the range of different opportunities available to use print as a powerful addition to cross-channel marketing campaigns, this will take the form of a panel discussion where leading communications users will be asked what they believe are the corresponding roles of print and digital media in a world where communication is increasingly perceived as an ‘instant’ thing.
Visitors to the session will also be able to benefit from the insights of these experts into ‘what works, and why’ – and where they believe print and digital media are headed – vital for any business operating in today’s multi-media world.
The following day, creativity guru and Gruen Transfer regular Todd Sampson, who is CEO of Leo Burnett, will be the keynote speaker. Sampson will tackle the subject of ‘creativity’ – a quality he believes is ‘one of the last remaining competitive advantages companies have today’.
The print industry has been built on the creativity of communication yet now finds itself challenged by it. During this session, delegates will be able to explore the concept of creativity and its power in solving any problem – including the challenges facing businesses today.
Following Sampson’s presentation, the session will take a more specific look at how digital and environmental developments are reshaping the role of print and how creativity could once again be a strategic ‘window of opportunity’ for the industry’s future.
Wrapping up the series on Friday, innovation and strategy expert Göran Roos will look at opportunities for print manufacturers to create entirely new and profitable business models by successfully capitalizing on new fields of technology.
Under the heading, “Innovation and how it is shaping tomorrow’s printing industry”, Göran will look at up and coming technologies like Augmented Reality, Social Media, Synthetic Biology and Cleantech and explore how these can be leveraged by Australian business to their own – and their clients’ – advantage.
Attendance at these sessions is completely free of charge for registered PrintEx11 and VIIE visitors, but those intending to be at the sessions must register their attendance as places will be limited and these are traditionally a very popular part of the PrintEx calendar of events.
