Large format print provider Peak Digital has installed a new HP Scitex FB700 in its plant in the Melbourne suburb of Seaford.
Managing Director Andrew Robertson reports that after only three weeks in operation the company has already attracted new business as a direct result.

“Everyone who sees this machine is impressed by the quality and its flexibility. We’ve shown existing clients the FB700 and they’ve responded by giving us work that we weren’t in a position to produce before.”
Peak Digital has been in operation since 2006 servicing trade customers as well as local businesses and national display companies. Over the past four years growth has seen the company expand into a second factory and put on additional staff. The company predominantly produces digital signage, with a small percentage of screenprinting work.
In selecting the HP Scitex FB700 Peak Digital worked closely with HP channel partner CPI Graphics. “CPI was very helpful in assisting us to find the right solution,” said Robertson. “We thoroughly investigated what was available on the market, but we kept coming back to the HP because it ticked all the boxes. None of the competitor models could offer all the features that the FB700 has”.
He continued. “In particular the size of the machine and the fact that it can print white ink really made a difference to us. We often need to print white and in the past that’s either meant screenprinting or outsourcing. Now we can do it inline and that alone has made us more competitive and efficient”.
The HP Scitex FB700 also sports other features that impressed Robertson. “A significant advantage is the machine’s ability to load another sheet while one is printing. We’ve seen productivity increase dramatically as a result”.
Robertson said the printer’s ease of use with the onboard user interface and the service and support that comes with the machine were other positives in its favour.
“The print quality alone is a great benefit, but when you add all the other features together, the FB700 stacks up as a great investment. We were surprised at how good it is. It has certainly exceeded our expectations”.
