First shown ay the SGIA show late last year, the Gandy brothers will again be showing the Pred8tor to the Middle East audience at Sign and Graphic Imaging taking place at Airport Expo Dubai in January.

The Pred8tor is a true UV flatbed and roll-to-roll combo printer that achieves the same print quality on all roll materials without compromising true flatbed capability. The Pred8tor will print high resolution 1200 dpi Pred8torphotographic quality with inline white or clear and will be the first commercially available high speed gray scale large format printer delivering a 6 picoliter droplet. The Pred8tor is also the world's first Grand Format Digital Printer to operate with full machine controls from the iPad with live diagnostics, image layout, media inventory and video tutorials

Gandy Digital’s 'Pred8tor' will print a 1.22m x 2.44m) sheet of rigid material (up to 50mm thick) in under 1 minute. Roll to Roll printing is also achieved with the optional rewind unit and will print at speed and high quality on all flexible materials with a roll width up to 2.44m and up to 40cm diameter rolls, including heavy vinyl's and mesh.

The Pred8tor can also accommodate rigid materials larger than the bed size with the Print Extension Table option. You can print up to 2.44m wide and any length rigid material. For example you can now print one piece of rigid material that is 2.44m wide by 10m long.

Backlit printing is attained with the built in back light camera that detects the print on both sides of the material and matches it up. You can easily print materials with different thicknesses as the head height adjusts automatically without the need to manually check it.

Print quality and speed on the Pred8tor are driven by the inline ‘Blade’ head configuration system. The pred8tor will print a 25cm wide swatch using 6 picoliter variable dot Ricoh heads. Cleaning is made much easier with the fully automatic built in head cleaning system.

Operation of the Pred8tor is made simple with the use of Gandy Digital’s own touch and drag GUI running on the iPad making it a true mobile operation; step and repeat, rotate, delete ripped images, create jobs and more. The iPad also comes loaded with video tutorials and a live diagnostic system making maintenance schedules part of the routine.

Also available on the GUI is a materials inventory control ordering system ‘iMediaMarket’ which is linked directly to all major manufactures and suppliers of Grand Format materials and consumables. This system also lets you keep track of your own media inventory and can advise if the stock for the next print job is available or running low. Profiles and software updates are also updated with the online system.
