On Tuesday 23 November Avery Dennison Materials Australia proudly celebrated 75 years as a business by opening its warehouse doors and treating customers to an evening of entertainment and innovation.
The evening was not only a celebration of Avery’s 75 years but also a thank-you to customers for their continued support through what has been a difficult past two years.

The celebrations were held in the Australian Head Office in Oakleigh South, Victoria, where the warehouse was turned into a showcase of Avery Dennison’s products and technologies. Guests were entertained by a three piece jazz band and given the opportunity to interact with the latest products from the four divisions of the Materials business; Rolls, Graphics, Reflectives and Tapes.
David Martin, Vice President and General Manager Materials Australia, New Zealand and South Africa opened the evening with a celebration of Avery’s achievements over the years. Recounting Avery’s humble beginnings in 1935 when R. Stanton Avery borrowed $100 from his fiancé to start a small labelling business in a rented loft space, to its growth into a Fortune 500 company and a global leader in labelling and packaging solutions. Mr Martin described some of the company’s most recent innovations from all four divisions of the company and expressed his optimism in the huge potential of the packaging and label industry.
Also in attendance was Vice President and General Manager Roll Materials Asia Pacific, Georges Gravanis who reaffirmed Avery’s customer focus when commenting that “By working closely with you [our customer], we are able to develop the inventive products and solutions that anticipate and address customer needs across a variety of industries”
V8 Supercar driver and Avery Graphics customer Jason Bright took the stage for a short interview highlighting his relationship with Avery and provided a testimonial on the benefits his team finds in using Avery Supreme Wrapping film and Supercast Easy Apply RS™ on the racing teams fleet of V8 Supercars. Bright then stayed for a Q&A with the audience, handed out door prizes of Brad Jones Racing Team merchandise and signed posters and prizes for the guests.
David Martin and George Gravanis commemorated the evening by toasting the celebrations and cutting a 75th Anniversary cake.
With the formalities out of the way, guests were able to wander through the displays of products from each Avery division. The Avery Graphics display boasted a Volkswagen Golf wrapped in MPI 1005 Supercast Easy Apply RS™ material and a stand wrapped in floor and wall graphics. The Rolls department replicated a kitchen and outdoor BBQ area to display the new Flexis™ range and products from the Food and Beverage segments. Avery Tapes customers enjoyed a personalised run though of the latest Tapes products while the Reflectives division set up a ‘black room’ to demonstrate the reflective properties of the new OmniCube™ technology for road signs.
Each guest departed the event with a commemorative 75th Anniversary beer labelled in Fasson clear BOPP material and a slice of the 75th Anniversary cake.
Highlights of the evening included the entertaining jazz band and the displays of real-life applications of Avery products from all divisions of Avery Dennison Materials.
