In the news recently for its purchase of the Agfa M-Press Tiger, Active Display again makes headlines with its announcement of the purchase of the Adval Australia.

With three operations already in place in Melbourne, the addition of Adval will give the group a fourth Melbourne operation as well as a Bisbane operation. The Adval sales office in Sydney will relocate to Active's office in Rozelle.

The print capacity of the combined operation will be extensive and with the addition of the new Agfa :M Press, due to be installed in January, the company will be a major force in the display printing market.

Jeff Gittus, founder of the Acive Display Group, said that for the time being, the Adval compnay will be a stand alone company and will take our time to decide how best to combine our synergies and staffing.

Adval Australia has been owned for the last ten years by Eye Corp, a major outdoor advertising company. The acquisition by the Active Display Group will allow two very similar operations to concentrate on their core activity of providing a print service as well as a diversified range of marketing services from shop fixtures and product displays, POP storage, on-line fulfillment and distribution and traditional signage.

Active Display Group made previous simultaneous acquisitions of APG and Four Colour Digital back in 2004. Those acquisitions took staffing from a previous 90+ to about 250 overnight. The Adval acquision will now see the staff complement shoot up to nearly 400.

"We have always maintained a professional, yet competitive relationship with Adval", said Jeff Gittus. "In particular through our our mutual association with POPAI Australia, our industry body. Phil Smith, CEO of Adval, and I are both on the board of POPAI and have worked together for several years on industry initiatives. Phil is the current Chairman of POPAI whilst I was the previous Chairman"
