The first NZ showing of HP’s new FB500 UV flatbed and Z6200 Poster Printer at Jenrite’s head office in Auckland on Wednesday 20th October attracted a lot of attention, with a strong turn-out from signwriters and printers eager to see this new equipment in action.
The main draw card for the event was the FB500, HP’s latest UV-curable flatbed printer. As well as displaying a range of impressive print samples from the device, Jenrite demonstrated the printer’s Load/Print/Collect media

feed system, which allows operators to continuously feed sheets into the printer and collect finished sheets from the output, without the unit stopping printing. The demonstrations showed the enormous productivity advantages of this system and the audience were impressed at the ease the machine produced high quality prints at production speeds.
Also on show was the successor to the popular Z6100 poster printer. The new Designjet Z6200 impressed with its significantly higher speed and addition of Chromatic Red ink.
Jenrite lined the Z6200 up against the superseded Z6100 to demonstrate the difference in speed and significantly lower ink consumption. The same A0 poster was printed simultaneously on both machines, and while the Z6200 finished well ahead of the Z6100, it also produced the same quality print with about half the amount of ink used.
The evening included a door prize of an HP Probook laptop computer and Shane Lucas, Director of HP Graphic Arts South Pacific, drew the lucky winner - Bill Matheson of Aucklands ABC Photosigns was the lucky winner.
