About 50 people, including many leading industry identities, media representatives, Anitech staff and overseas principals, saw David Leach become the first “Anitech Industry Legend”.
Anitech’s David West introduced the Award where he heaped praise on the two runners up and the inaugural winner of Anitech’s Industry Legend for 2010.
All three winners were chosen for their contributions to their communities and their other activities beyond the profit seeking activities that most of us pursue.
In David West’s build up to the announcement of the winners, he paid tribute to the qualities that the judges were looking for…

“In our day to day business dealings, we have often come across people who are truly inspirational, demonstrating initiative, dedication and hard work in their business lives, as well as outstanding generosity and personal integrity in all spheres.
These people – the ‘Legends’ of the industry – invariably go about their business without fanfare, in fact, many would shun being held up as any kind of example.
Yet we believe that it is important to recognise and celebrate these qualities, and to hold them up as ideals for others who are following our footsteps. The Anitech Industry Legend Award is our attempt at creating a formal recognition of these outstanding contributors.
We received many nominations for the Award this year, and it was an exceptionally difficult task for our judges, Peter Harper and David Hay, to select our finalists from a field of such deserving nominees. Many, if not most of them could rightly be called ‘Legends’ of our industry.
Thank you, Peter and David, for being willing to take on such an exacting task and for the time and effort you put into evaluating our nominees to come up with our final winner.
In the end, the selection process came down to a shortlist of three people, all of whom are worthy of the title “Industry Legend”. So before announcing our inaugural Anitech Industry Legend, I would like to invite our other two finalists to accept a special award which we have struck for them, to recognise their contribution to the industry and their outstanding character and personal qualities…..”
David then announced David Lawless and Keith Ferrel as the runners up. Both gentlemen received trophies.
David West then announced the 2010 Anitech Industry Legend as David Leach of Look Print.
David Leach, CEO of Look Print in Leichhard, Sydney was described as an outstanding business person. A person who is respected by suppliers, customers and employees and is looked up to by many as a mentor.
“David provides endless energy, ideas, innovations and solutions and manages to bring out the best in people by providing a platform where people are encouraged to strive to achieve great results.
Beyond the bounds of Look Print, David is also well respected by his peers in the industry across Australia. He has served as President of GASAA this year, has made great contributions at overseas conferences and regularly consults with national and international colleagues, sharing information and ideas which will help to drive our industry forward.
David is also passionate about serving the community. He is involved in many community projects including being a benefactor and donor to Biennale of Sydney for the past six years, has supported Clean Up Australia for more than 15 years, regularly supports young Australia street artists to have their work displayed around Sydney through ‘Project Ugly’ and sponsoring the signage for the Dream Ball, a key part of the ‘Look Good, Feel Better’ campaign to help cancer patients.”
In his acceptance speech, David Leach admitted that he saw his many contributions to his wider Sydney community as part of his responsibility as the CEO of Look Print.
