The Digitool Applicator was designed by Australians Mike Scott and Sam Cooke while running an international fitting team based in London between 2007 and 2010.
Working on major retail roll-outs throughout Europe the product came about from the need for a multi-purpose tool when working with large volumes of digital print and window films.
"There are products out there with wider felt edges which are needed for wide format prints, but no sharp edge for cornering or as a guide when cutting in, we were forever swapping tools looking for one or the other, so we designed a product combining these essential elements".
The Digitool Applicator has the 2 essential application edges, the 150mm wide replacable felt edge and 150mm sharp plastic egde. Having these 2 edges combined allows the fitter to work with many different types of large format media including:
- Digital print
- Easy apply media
- Self adhesive wall papers
- Window films and tints
- Etch/Frosted vinyls and more.
*The felt edge is hard wearing and can be replaced when worn. Which is approximatly 300m2 of applicationon a decent surface. (A spare felt edge is included with every purchase).
Housed in the centre of the applicator is the removable trimming knife.
The knife is released by simply pushing down on the handle (see instructions on website).
This slim line knife is suitable for any trimming and cutting tasks. Combined with the plastic edge, it works very well as a cutting and guide system when trimming wall prints, windows films etc. (see the online video demonstaration http://www.digitool.com.au
The storage compartment in the applicator is also very handy. Supplied within the compartment is a light weight trimming scalpel which is ideal for precision cutting, for example, trimming around power points, lights, door fittings etc.
Also in this storage area is a chinagraph pencil. This can be combined with the 15cm ruler which is found on the sharp edge of the Digitool. Spare blades can also be stored in this compartment.
