At the annual PrintIT! Award ceremony during IPEX 2010 Elena Knight, Marketing Manager of Xaar presented an Award to Madeleine Young of Wycombe High School for the Best Understanding of Printing Techniques.

The PrintIT! scheme, part of the ProSkills programme, aims to raise young students' interest and knowledge of the print and paper industry. Students research and analyse materials, develop designs and recommend print xaar_printit_imagemethods for a variety of FAIRTRADE marketing materials including posters and packaging.

Xaar chose to sponsor PrintIT! because it sees inkjet at the forefront of print development and change. For example, Xaar supports education and research into inkjet technology through Cambridge University.

"The youth of today drives the innovation of tomorrow and it is initiatives like this that inspires young people at an early stage to discover more and get involved," says Elena. "Sponsoring this Award is important to Xaar. The future of the print industry is driven by the talents of young people. The standard of entries was extremely high and Madeleine showed in-depth understanding of print's capabilities and potential."
