HP announced at the opening that it has successfully shipped more than 100 HP Designjet L65500 printers since its launch in February 2009.

The HP Designjet L65500 was the first printer to feature HP Latex Printing Technologies that are designed to reduce the environmental impact of printing. Additionally, the company also unveiled customer oriented initiatives to bolster its digital print solution offerings and infrastructure for the signage industry in Asia Pacific.

In a report published by Pira International Ltd1, it states that Digital printed signage output in Asia will account for 38% of global digital printed signage. The value of the printed signage market in Asia (APJ) will grow from €6,872.77M in 2008 to €11,789.25M by 2013 - an 11.4% CAGR2. “The initiatives being unveiled are aligned with our long term strategy of expansion to capture the industry growth opportunities. And additionally, to further strengthen our industry leading position.”, said Martin Carballo, Director, HP Scitex – Graphic Solutions Business, Imaging and Printing Group, Hewlett-Packard Asia Pacific and Japan.

Key highlights of yesterday’s announcement at the HP Scitex Regional Solution Centre in Hong Kong include:

Industry’s first Media Testing Facility for Asia Pacific & Japan in the expanded HP Scitex Regional Solution Centre: The newly expanded Centre which is double the size of the previous solutions centre, at 9,500 square feet, will allow HP to better serve the evolving needs of Print Service Providers (PSPs) in the signage industry.  

Key features PSPs can look forward to include a comprehensive range of HP Scitex solutions, specialized training curriculum for engineers and machine operators, solution testing, seminars for PSPs and the industry’s first Media Testing Facility for Asia Pacific & Japan located within the Centre. The Facility will allow HP to find cost-effective media solutions for PSPs, and also to open up new applications to help PSPs grow their business. The expansion of the Centre as well as the establishment of the Media testing facility is part of HP’s commitment to enhancing the total customer experience.
