Adam Lucas from the Tafe NSW reports that the semester, term one, the Get Skilled program for the sign Industry, is scheduled to commence.

"The Get Skilled program is one that looks to provide an entry pathway into a trade career. The individuals that it is targeted towards are the long term unemployed, youth, mature aged, people with a disability, non English speaking background, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and carer/parents re-entering the labour market," said Lucas.

The course is a Certificate 1 qualification, attending twenty hours a week at TAFE for eighteen weeks. Concluding with one weeks work experience in industry.

This Get Skilled course is fully funded resulting in no expense for the student. The funding covers the students: enrolment fees, student notes, PPE (personal protective equipment), equipment/tools, resources etc.

"If you know of any individual that is keen, enthusiastic, willing to learn and looking to begin a career in the sign industry, this provides an excellent opportunity," he concluded.

An Information Session will be held on 30 January 2009 at 10am with the course start date commencing 9 Feb 2009 at8.30am and finishing on the 26 June 2009. Work experience will be offered during 29 June to the 3 July 2009.
