Spandex has announced the first Australian installation of its recently announced Gerber Solara ionx flatbed/roll-to-roll, wide-format, UV inkjet printing solution.

NSW Hunter Valley based, Hi-Vis Signs & Safety (HVS) took charge of the versatile Solara ionx at the end of September, after deciding that the printer’s numerous feature-rich attributes and cost-effectiveness provided the best all-round package to enhance its wide-format digital offering.

ion_gallery_01_sm.jpgAccording to Brett Watson, Hi-Vis Signs & Safety’s Managing Director, “the Gerber Solara ionx has a very solid vacuum plate table which does not require any covering of the table when not printing on sections.

Mr. Watson was also impressed with the GerberCAT cationic UV inks which proved flexible with the cold curing showing no effect on plastics and corflute, other printers generated significant amounts of heat when being used for long periods which caused many head crashes with plastics and other materials, we have seen none of this even when using the printer all day”.

HVS now have the piece of mind knowing that if increased production demands called for it, the Gerber Solara ionx could handle vehicle graphics with ease.

Another key feature of the Gerber Solara ionx is its ability to deliver high print quality at impressive speeds. As a result, Mr. Watson and his team will be able to produce print output at up to 28m2/hr on rigid and flexible, outdoor-durable graphics that are immediately usable.

The Solara ionx will allow HVS to reduce its production time, which in return will increase their efficiency and save them valuable time, making it easier to deliver jobs to customers more quickly.
