RolandDG logoRyugo Nimura, President, Global Sales and Marketing Division says: “The TrueVIS is our flagship brand for large-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters, which have won worldwide acclaim from sign and graphics professionals for their ability to produce outstanding graphics with the extraordinary power to excite hearts and minds.

"The XP-640 is the latest model in this series, and we have further refined its print quality and achieved top-class productivity through the addition of several innovations, including a new print head, upgraded control technology, and improved ink.”

(note: the XP should not be confused with Mutoh's successful XP-J 64" eco solvent printer)

The newly designed dual staggered print heads eject finer ink droplets at higher density and speed. The new high-speed data control technology maximizes the performance of the print heads while achieving beautiful, high-definition image quality. Excellent productivity of 15.2 m2/h in standard mode for 8-color PVC and 22.5 m2/h in standard mode for 4-color PVC is achieved.

New red ink

In addition to CMYK, orange and green, the new eco-solvent TH ink features vibrant new red ink to achieve the highest accuracy with red and orange expression, the most crucial and frequently used colors in sign graphics. The wider color gamut also enables accurate reproduction of corporate colors. The ink price per milliliter is lower than that of conventional ink, and ink usage is reduced through improved profiling to maximize profitability for high-volume production.

True Rich Color, a printing setting that optimizes the potential of the device and creates beautiful and realistic graphics that combine vivid colors with neutral grays, smooth gradations, and natural skin tones has also evolved further. Based on the True Rich Color Standard setting, the user now can quickly select the ideal color variation including more vivid color, deeper color, or softer color depending on the setting and the client’s requirements.

The XP-640 offers features for efficient high-quality output, including an easy-to-use 7-inch color LCD touch panel, a media setup function that automatically performs accurate media gap and compensation adjustment, a media take-up for less media skewing to ensure stable production, and a perforated sheet cutter for quick and efficient post-processing work. To minimize downtime, customers can now easily replace caps, wipers, wiper cleaners, and other parts around the print heads, which were previously done by service engineers. Roland DG Connect, a cloud-based service provides strong backup for output operations with a full array of functions, including more accurate support in the event of errors, operational visibility, easy profit calculation, smooth downloading of profiles, and more.

Nimura adds: “Customer expectations and demand for eco-solvent ink, with its eye-catching vividness and superior weather resistance, remains strong, and it is still the mainstay today. The TrueVIS XP-640, developed based on the technology and know-how we have cultivated over many years, is a product that has further evolved in all aspects, including image quality, productivity, operation efficiency, and lower price. It is a robust product that will empower professionals in sign and graphic production, especially those who have clients with large output volumes and demanding deadlines. We will continue to develop and provide attractive solutions to contribute to our customers’ creativity and business expansion.”

Roland DG Australia and the new printer can be seen at PacPrint, Sydney in May on stands A48 and 68.
