During Printing United, Las Vegas, we reported on the showing of Epson's new eco-solvent printer, known as the SureColor 9170 in US. Epson Australia has announced more detail and that the new model will be designated SC9160 here, with a shipment date in mid-2025.
The intuitive, tiltable, touch-screen of Epson's upcoming 64" eco-solvent SC9160
Epson Australia has confirmed that its new eco-solvent 64" printer (shown at Printing United Las Vegas recently) will be designated the SureColor S9160, the first in the next generation of its popular SureColor S-Series eco-solvent printers. Replacing the flagship SC-S80600 and SC-S80660L models, the new 64-inch SC-S9160 is said to set a new standard in signage printing by delivering exceptional image quality, an expanded colour gamut, unparalleled productivity and a compact, user-friendly design. 
The PrecisionCore printhead is user-replaceable for the first time
The SC-S9160 is equipped with Epson’s latest user-replaceable 2.64” PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead and features an integrated temperature sensor, nozzle verification technology and nozzle replacement. These advancements ensure reliable image quality and consistent colour output while significantly boosting productivity. This new PrecisionCore printhead makes the SC-S9160 a versatile and efficient choice for signage businesses of all sizes.
The SC-S9160 deploys an advanced 11-colour ink set, including red, orange and an all-new green, as well as opaque white ink, which can be used on clear or dark substrates to add versatility and enhance colour. This expanded ink set delivers a broad colour gamut and enables vibrant and accurate prints on a variety of media types, including vinyl, canvas, film, wallpaper and other roll media up to 1626 mm.

The S9160 printer is designed with the user in mind with compact dimensions, a flat-top and low-profile design with a clear top window, ensuring easy operation. The printer also features an advanced auto tension control system for high-precision media feeding and an included media lifter making media setup simple and easy.
The intuitive 4.3-inch tiltable touchscreen offers more convenient operation with animated instructions to enhance the overall user experience.
Epson says that the SC-S9160 stands at the forefront of eco-friendly innovation. Approximately 30% of the plastic used in its hardware is made from recycled materials, which reflects Epson’s ongoing commitment to reusing resources and reducing waste. The UltraChrome GS3 eco-solvent inks used are low-VOC, which reduces environmental footprint. The printer also offers the opportunity to install either 800 ml or 1,500 ml of any colour to best suit any print signage business’ workflow needs while reducing plastic waste.
To further optimise productivity and profitability for users, the SC-S9160 integrates with Epson’s powerful management tools, including Epson Edge Print Pro RIP software and Epson Cloud Solution PORT. These tools offer comprehensive reporting, tracking and costing tools enabling businesses to streamline their operations.

The SureColor S9160 eco-solvent printer is expected to ship in Australia and New Zealand in the middle of 2025.
