Commentary by Andy McCourt:
"This is a very positive move following the turmoil and uncertainty for Zünd customers in the wake of former dealer Starleaton's administration. Since May 2023, several Zünd customers have placed orders for new or refurbished machines or upgrade parts, placing large deposits or pre-paying the entirety of the amount. These sums, totalling in excess of one million dollars, were paid to Starleaton (now subject to a Deed of Company Agreement following its administration and alleged insolvency), as dealer agent for Zünd in Australia. Unfortunately, none of these customers thus far have received what they paid for. Two contacted Zünd Switzerland directly and paid again to receive urgent upgrade parts. Remedying this unprecedented situation is an on-going process involving all parties concerned and, in some cases, litigation.
The entry of Zünd Systemtechnik AG into Australia with its own subsidiary operation, as it has done recently in Brasil and the UK, can only be seen as a proactive and welcome step, and one which will benefit the industry as a whole.
I wish Zünd , Dale Hawkins and his team and, especially, Zünd customers every success."
