The ProGear Show, a special three-day trade exhibition of professional imaging equipment and materials organised by the Australian Photographic Industry, is to be held at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra. The ProGear exhibition will consist of 14 different displays featuring all the latest developments and trends in professional photography.

It will be the largest and most comprehensive display seen in Canberra for more than two decades. The exhibition is aimed at all with a keen interest in image making, whether they be professional photographers, educationalists, students, marketing and advertising executives or keen amateur photographers.

The ProGear Show  is organised by the Photo Imaging Council of Australia in association with The Australian Institute of Professional Photography and Photo Marketing Association International. Exhibitors will feature top-end equipment from the major camera manufactures and the new wide format ink jet printing systems.

The ProGear Show is part of Vivid, the National Photography Festival and will be open to all visitors free from Saturday 19th July to Monday 21 July.

VIVID celebrates the vital role of photography in Australian life and history. Over fifty national and ACT-based institutions are collaborating to present more than 100 photography exhibitions, conferences and a range of events for photographers, photographic historians and everyone with an interest in photography.

Commented Bruce Pottinger, the Professional Vice President of the Photo Imaging Council, "It has been many years since the industry has organised a presentation in Canberra and this will be a unique opportunity to catch up on all the latest trends in the fast moving world of digital imaging."

In conjunction with the ProGear Show, the AIPP is running a combined ACT & NSW Australian Professional Photography Awards judging at the same venue.
