“Having been in operation since January 2021, COVID-19 has impeded official opening plans, however the facility has become the hub for ACP recycling for rectification projects across Australia; having already processed 110 tonnes to date,” said Melissa Herrmann, industry engagement manager for Fairview, which specialises in the design, manufacture and distribution of façade solutions throughout Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

“Finally having the opportunity to officially open the Ecoloop facility is a significant milestone in our product stewardship journey,” Herrmann said. “The $1.6 million investment demonstrates our commitment to making available a recycling solution for waste otherwise pegged for landfill. In addition, our ability to contribute to the local Lithgow community by way of more jobs is something the Fairview team are really passionate about.

“This facility enables Ecoloop to divert 100% of the components from landfill, supporting a strong circular economy in regional Australia.”

Deputy Premier Toole congratulated Ecoloop on its investment in the local economy. “It shows an ongoing commitment by the company to the Lithgow district and with this comes new jobs, which is fantastic,” he said. “Ecoloop has created a unique service which is a first for Australia and it’s all happening here in the Electorate of Bathurst.

“Diverting waste from landfill is a key to a sustainable future and Ecoloop ticks all the boxes, with 100 per cent of waste being recycled and turned into a new fit-for-purpose products.”

Fairview is the only cladding supplier in Australia to offer a recycling option to tackle end-of-life waste.

Ecoloop has been verified under the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) requirements for waste processing. This means businesses can contribute to points under the Greenstar Scheme by using Ecoloop to recycle ACP waste.

The recycling facility has the capacity to process up to 500 panels per day and processes different types of metal, including copper and natural zinc, to achieve 100% component diversion from landfill.
