Roland DG will be present latest innovations from its portfolio of digital printing solutions, including the new IU-1000F large-format UV flatbed printer, at next month’s viscom trade fair for advertising technology and large format printing in Düsseldorf, Germany (January 7-9). Viscom 2020 will also feature a live signmaking workshop.

Roland DG’s stand will feature the latest models of its TrueVIS series - the new SG2 and VG2 printers/cutters - and the new IU-1000F large-format UV flatbed printer (pictured) – a machine that will be shown for the first time in Germany during the trade fair.

The IU-1000F employs UV-LED flatbed technology to print directly on a variety of materials, including rigid boards up to 2510mm x 1310mm, 110mm in height and 45 kg/sqm in weight. The UV inks cure immediately, enabling the IU-1000F to print on substrates such as acrylic, PETG, PVC board, foam board, PC, wood, corrugated polypropylene board, aluminium composite plate, and even metal and glass by using Primer ink. Sales will start in Europe, North America and Japan in the first quarter of 2020, with other regions to follow shortly after.

Other Roland technology at viscom will include: the RF-640 8 Colour large format inkjet printer, which offers the widest colour spectrum in its class for weatherproof graphics; the LEF2-200 UV flatbed printer and the new LV range of laser engravers; the compact VersaStudio BN-20 desktop printer with cutting function; and the GS-24 cutting plotter.

“The aim of viscom is to allow trade visitors from the various advertising sectors to experience new printing and advertising techniques live,” says Roland DG. “In this respect, the ‘workshop,’ an interactive area in the centre of viscom, will be a highlight. Roland DG will be making its new TrueVIS VG2 available to visitors there. Those who have wanted to see the impressive colour rendering of the new TR2 ink including orange with their own eyes for some time should be rewarded for their patience.”

viscom live experience

25,000 visitors and about 200 manufacturers and distributors from more than 40 countries are expected at viscom 2020. Trade visitors from such industries as signmaking, print services, textile finishing, illuminated advertising, media production, stand building, shopfitting and foil wrapping will find a laboratory for experimentation in the viscom live signmaking workshop.

They won’t just be able to touch and understand new materials, they’ll also get to process them in a real-life operation. Pros from the signmaking network Signforum-24 will explain processes and procedures, answer questions and share their knowledge.

While large-format prints are being created on the machines, walls get foil-taped or fabric-covered, wallpaper is individually or custom-printed, and illuminated letters take on concrete forms, the Barber Shop will offer a very special service. The retro-designed salon serves as the pampering island in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the workshop. There, too, everything revolves around precise cuts and individual designs – except that the pro here grabs a blade to trim visitors’ beards or hair.
