Co-founder Steve Sardi, who started Soul Sports in 1992 with partners Brad Connelly and Mark Hennessy says: “We have used Mimaki printers since we started sublimation work and have found them to be very reliable. The TS300P-1800 is an upgrade to an existing Mimaki; it can run at up to 115 square

metres per hour and has a new ink set that reduces costs and minimizes nozzle blockage, so will boost production for us. We look forward to the installation happening.”
Soul Sports has grown to a twelve-person operation and is the leading sports apparel supplier to basketball/netball community in general. The company also produces sublimation-printed AFL, athletic, soccer, hockey, roller derby and rugby uniforms as well as school jerseys, polos and tee shirts. Basketballs, netballs, protective gear, trackies and hoodies are also in the inventory. It still offers screen print and embroidery facilities along with digital dye-sublimation.
“Dye sublimation printing enables us to keep sports apparel manufacturing in Australia,” says Sardi, “producing short runs of just a few jerseys or netball dresses; or kitting out entire squads. The vibrancy of the new Mimaki Sb410 inks is really impressive and the new anti-cockling mechanism will further improve print quality and reduce waste.”
Fujifilm is a Mimaki reseller partner and has many years of experience in dye sublimation inks and the world’s best sublimation transfer papers from Coldenhove. The TS300P-1800 prints up to 1940mm maximum width with up to six colours: Blue, Magenta, Yellow, Black, light Blue and light Magenta. Soul Sports is running C(b)MYK bulk inks in paired 2 litre packs for uninterrupted long-run production. Resolutions range from 360dpi up to 1080dpi.
Located at the foot of NSW’s Blue Mountains, Soul Sports guarantees all of its Australian-made sports apparel for three years. It supports many basketball associations via sponsorship, and also Penrith FC soccer club.
