GJS Machinery sews together sponsorship with DIA Textiles Practice Group

GJS Machinery has announced a partnership agreement with the Design Institute of Australia’s (DIA) Textile Practice Group to assist stage its fourth annual textile exhibition - Interwoven.

The exhibition was initiated to help foster and contribute to a vibrant textiles culture in Australia. There are many textile designers who create high quality original products in Australia; but with scarcity of jobs here, many are forced to go it alone. Interwoven aims to create a community that harnesses and revives the textile industry by linking trained designers to local producers.
“As one of the premier suppliers of textile printing solutions to the Australian market GJS Machinery is focused on empowering local businesses to achieve success and ensuring that work is kept on-shore, securing local jobs,” said Greg Stone, Director, GJS Machinery. “These core values align perfectly with those of the Design Institute of Australia’s Textile Practice Group and the philosophy on which the Interwoven exhibition was founded. We are proud to be sponsoring this fourth annual exhibition and look forward to many subsequent years of association with the DIA” Stone concluded.
Interwoven offers designers and artisans the opportunity to present their work in a gallery context. There is a large component of local screen-printing textile works that extend into commercial and residential interior and homeware applications. Other small textiles businesses will have explorations into new technology and digital art pieces on display.
The Interwoven exhibition takes place at the Damien Minton Annex Space, 583 Elizabeth Street Redfern from the 5 to the 9 of June, 2012.
