What makes a Craftsman Award winning Wide Format entry?

On the back of their Gold Award at Printing Industries Craftsman Awards 2017, recently held at Brisbane’s Pullman Hotel, WFOL caught up with Brad Wruck, Colorcorp General Manager.

Talking to WFOL at his office in Northgate, just 9 kilometres north of Brisbane, Brad spoke about the pride that his team holds for these types of awards.

This award (it should be noted that Colorcorp had won several other medals on the night) was within the Craftsman Awards - Category Eight – Large Format Applications (AO and Above), for their ‘Doritos Panteck’ truck side signage.

Whilst awards are nice, Brad spoke about these awards being a real reflection of the inputs of his team at Colorcorp. Brad spoke about the fact that Colorcorp has a wealth of experience to call on with their 15 longest serving staff members alone having over 350 years of industry knowledge, on top of this Colorcorp continues to actively employ and train apprentices. Colorcorp have been supplying their services to their clients for over 30 years, some of their clients have even been with them right along this journey.

However, in addition to their extensive experience, even old dogs need to keep up with the new tricks of the industry. Brad told WFOL that over the past 4 years Colorcorp have updated all their equipment to stay in line with current and ever-changing technologies and the needs of their clients. In the case of their Gold Award winning ‘Doritos Panteck’ solution, they utilised their twin HP Latex 3000 machines, which running in tandem with a dual gloss white, opaque cast vinyl (MPI 1105 EA RS & DOL6460 supplied by Avery Dennison) were able to quickly and efficiently produce the multiple panels (printed in sequence) required to apply to the sides of the 24-pallet truck.

The Colorcorp premises at Northgate are also undergoing a revamp, with a new mezzanine area in development which will add much needed storage, but also a showroom to show case their award-winning solutions.

To facilitate this particular truck signage solution, Colorcorp went that extra mile. Having watched the old truck on his way to the office each day, Brad Wruck made a mental note that they could add to the customers daily product exposure. Touching base with their client, Colorcorp was, in liaison with the clients marketing team, able to offer a solution that was simple, fast - in keeping with the need to minimise the time that the truck would be off the road - and provide a quality (award winning) outcome. The below images reflect the before and after shots of the client’s truck.

As Brad and the team at Colorcorp told WFOL, awards are nice but it is customer satisfaction that are the real rewards that they seek.
