Automating signage and display workflow is becoming increasingly necessary as the industry grows and matures. Sometimes the cost or learning curve put smaller shops off of automating but, at Visual Impact on the Kayell stand, we caught up with an old friend from Singapore, Ivan Khoo, now director of a company called PrintFactory who offers a complete production suite that is easy to use, inexpensive and a real time-saver for those mundane repetitive tasks.

Kayell has taken on distribution and support for PrintFactory in Australia and Visual Impact was the local launch.

PrintFactory’s heartbeat is that it uses one central Rip to drive everything – all types of printers and cutters. It ensures the same colour from all devices, day-in, day-out. Automated ink saving calculates just the right amount of ink to lay down and claims to reduce ink usage by up to 20% - yet still achieve better colour.

File editing is another time-saver and Print Factory works with PDF,Ai, PSD, EPS, TIFF Jpeg and many other file formats, saving the need to go back to the original files for late changes. Sign-specific capabilities such as allowing for grommets, bleeds, folds, pole pockets etc are all part of the package. Dynamic linking to popular cutters lnks the print files to the cutters for accurate flatbed production end-to-end.

Jobs are created and stored as a single file with tiles, substrates, die-lines job elements and tooling all there in a single view.

Check it out from Kayell who sells and supports PrintFactory locally.
