This show takes place every 2 years and is traditionally a good show for all concerned. Some years ago, the show, as the oldies will remember, was presented at the Gold Coast but is now a regular at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Some attendees come from interstate with the intention of combining business with a Queensland holiday – clever people!
Traffic was good and had its peaks and valleys as all these shows do. Rain on the Friday was blamed for a small drop off in visitor traffic but it seemed nobody complained.

The show was well represented by the major local suppliers and perhaps what has been noticeable over the last few years is the increasing volume of Chinese exhibitors, some of whom do not have local distributors in place, presumably they would be hopeful of appointing local distributors.
Wide Format Online was there with the now ‘expected’ video camera so that exhibitors could extend the life of their individual presentations to the many of those industry players that were not able to get to the show. Those videos will be uploaded and promoted as soon as we have the necessary approvals from the various suppliers.

As a matter of interest, all the hundreds of Wide Format Online videos can be seen at our YouTube site – just click here.
Many people use these shows as a networking event and potentially much business is conducted this way.

Whilst we did see some “sold” signs on various machines, the bigger exhibitors understand that being part of these shows is an investment in the future of their businesses as well as an investment in the industry that provides us all with a living. Whilst they are all hopeful of selling many machines and/or services directly from the show, they realise that the leads that are taken will result in orders down the line.

We were lucky enough to pin down Brian Pretorius, newly appointed Product Manager, Signage and Large Format Division at Kwik Kopy Australia. We chatted for some time to Brian and are now hopeful of publishing an interview with Brian where he will offer further information on his role and describe the new opportunities available to the 80+ Kwik Kopy store owners.
The organisers will soon be reporting numbers and perhaps some other stats about the show.

Overall a good show, well done to all concerned.VI Brisbane 2018 shot
