Canon has named Akira ‘Dave’ Yoshida as its new managing director for Oceania following the departure of Yusuke Mizoguchi.

Mizoguchi was promoted to a new role at Canon Europe, after serving as managing director for Oceania since 2015. His new role is effective from April this year.

Yoshida is also set to start in April, working closely with Mizugochi and the rest of the senior leadership team during the transition period.

He most recently served as general manager of laser printing at Canon's headquarters in Japan, following stints in Canon’s US and Canadian businesses.

“I look forward to commencing my new role in Australia, and am eager to meet our talented employees and work with our valued customers and partners,” Yoshida said.

“I am excited to continue the magnificent work of Mr Mizoguchi in this region.”

Mizugochi led Canon Oceania’s diversification strategy, which included the acquisition of Harbour IT and Converga, as well as implementing community and sustainability initiatives.

He also served as managing director for Canon New Zealand from 2011 to 2015, plus stints with Canon USA and Germany.

“My journey here has been very rewarding and I have met and worked alongside many fantastic people,” Mizugochi said.

“As I hand the reins over to Mr Yoshida, Canon will continue our focus on delivering on our commitments to Canon Oceania customers, consumers, partners and employees, who are at the heart of everything we do.”
