A young press operator from Queensland who won the Printing Industries / LIA Future Leaders Award will be rewarded with a place in the supa drupa industry tour in May.

The award was presented to Martin Byng who is employed by APN Queensland.

drupa is the largest print show in the world and is recognised throughout the world as the trendsetter of the industry.

This is the first time Printing Industries has sponsored the award which is part of the Lithographic Institute of Australia (LIA) Recognition and Awards Program.

Printing industries National President, Peter Lane, said the association was extremely pleased and proud to sponsor the award for two specific reasons.

"Firstly, it is an opportunity for Printing Industries to demonstrate its commitment to develop closer relationship with industry organisations like the LIA which foster the ongoing presentation of technical knowledge for the printing industry throughout Australia," he said.

"Secondly and very importantly, this award recognises the potential future leadership qualities that have been developed within TAFE graduates throughout Australia.

"As the peak employer association for the printing industry, Printing Industries has a commitment and philosophy to encourage its member companies to keep the brightest and best in the industry. We believe that our sponsorship of the award will contribute to this objective."

In recognition of his achievement winning the bi-annual award, Martin will receive a supa drupe travel and accommodation package to visit drupe in Düsseldorf, Germany in May next year as part of the Printing Industries supa drupa industry tour contingent.

"We hope that what Martin sees and experiences at the world's biggest printing trade show will not only enhance his knowledge and drive for success, but can be imparted to others who will gain from this knowledge and insight," Mr Lane said.
