We are having problems with solids varying in depth and intensity from left to right on our Roland XC 540. Anyone had the problem and been able to overcome it. Please let us know as its getting tedious. Thanks Trev Adams

Try running your machine uni-directional.
This sounds like a typical Bi-directional print issue.

uni-directional means the head prints in one direction ie left to right then returns to the capping station then prints again

bi-directional prints left to right the prints right to left.

I have also seen faulty media create problems similar to your brief description (even one of the largest manufacturers had a problem along these lines recently, so it could be a faulty batch of product).

If this is the case you would be able to load a different manufacturers product and test the results for consistency.

If neither of these answers from Guru or myself have corrected the problem please come back and let us know with a specific description of what image you are printing, what media it's on, and what rip you are using and we will do our best to help.

Hi Trevor, this can also be caused by head hight variences across the print path, get your Roland Tech to measure and check. Also if you are printing a tiled job, print the tiles head to toe so that the colour difference matches up when you apply them.

Also, get the Tech to check the platens temp to ensure that it is the same all the way across the width, different temps can cause the the ink droplets to form in different ways and therefore influence the colours.
