With one of our recent surveys uncovering the fact that many in our industry are under charging for their services (about $85.00 an hour) we would like to ask what the feelings are on this subject, given that the suggested rate should be more like $120.00 per hour.
What are the problems in increasing the rate - why are so many undercharging?
Maybe they charge out at an appropriate level for the emloyees skillset and experience. Many sign and print shops seem to be using 'unskilled' labour for many tasks to reduce costs and be more competitive. It's a race to the bottom and I don't want to be the winner.
The service provider needs to demonstrate value to their customer in a more expensive product. If their customer is not convinced that a higher priced quote represents a good 'value' proposition, then they'll jump for the cheaper price every time.
